We have always wanted to make a raglan overcoat, we felt this was one of the hardest coats to get right. Cut too loose, the armhole is too deep, movement is restricted, and one looks like one is wearing a shapeless grandfather coat, or worse, a potato sack. Cut too tight, the armhole is uncomfortable and one can look like a sausage.

Our Mac coat is our version of a raglan sleeve coat. A raglan sleeve extends in one piece from the collar to the sleeve cuff. There is no defined shoulder line nor seam, creating a rounded shoulder. This gives more freedom of movement than a set in sleeve and makes it extremely comfortable to wear when done right.

Side pockets are our signature crescent pockets that are ergonomic and provide easy entry to the pocket and keep the hands dry when it pours. We have made the coat as light as possible, and omitted internal pockets, and sleeve vents or straps - that add bulk and weight. The coat is just fabric, sewing thread and buttons.

This coat is designed to be worn over a jacket. Please select your jacket size. If you do not intend to wear this coat over a jacket, please order a size down from your usual jacket size. We currently have two versions available on our site, both in water repellent cotton: the navy and green pictured here. We have made versions in navy cashmere, hunting loden and camelhair. These and other fabrics are available to order and can be commissioned at our store or at one of our trunk shows.
